Preparation for First Holy Communion and Confirmation 2026 – 2027: Enrolment forms for the Sacramental Preparation of children & young people attending non-Catholic schools are available in our churches this weekend.
First Holy Communion classes will take place in Tipton. Mr. Matthew Mulyakal will be organizing the course. Please contact Matthew and collect the enrolment forms from Tipton.
Confirmation classes will take place in Dudley. Sr. Geraldine will be organizing the course. Please contact Sr. Geraldine and collect the enrolment forms from Dudley.
There will be a meeting for parents & children on Friday 18th September at 7.00pm in the Parish Hall at Tipton. Attendance at all sessions and related activities will be essential. Candidate/s absent for three consecutive lessons will be asked to defer the programme for the following year. Attending weekend Masses and monthly Eucharistic Adoration on First Saturday of every month will be essential.
Copies of basic prayers, and Order of Mass are included in the enrolment pack. We encourage families and children to learn them and use them at our liturgical celebrations.
In the 4th century Bishop Cyril of Jerusalem, when speaking to the newly baptised about receiving Holy Communion for the first time, had this to say:
‘When you come up to receive…make your left hand a throne for the right (for it is about to receive a King), cup your palm, and so receive the body of Christ; then answer ‘Amen’…Why, if you had been given gold dust, would you not take the utmost care to hold it fast, not letting a grain slip through your fingers. How much more carefully then will you guard against losing so much as a crumb of that which is more precious than gold.”
