Some Thoughts for Tipton Parish on Remembrance Sunday
Our first church was an ex-WW1 Army Hut. We do not know anything of the men who used the hut in war-time. No doubt many of them went to the battlefield. We should remember and pray for those who gave their lives so that we might enjoy our way of life.
Michael Gaffney, a 16-year-old boy, enlisted early and fought in the battle of the Somme. He vowed that, if he survived the war, he would become a priest. Father Michael Gaffney was our second Parish Priest and the present church was built in his time.
When Fr. Dinan was Parish Priest, Suday Mass was at 11.00 am. On Rembrance Sunday we joined the Local Parade at the War Memorial in the Park and Fr. Dinan led the Service of Remembrance.
MAY THOSE WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR US REST IN THE PEACE OF CHRIST.
Are you a Blood Donor? Our local Blood Bank is experiencing high demands for its services. They would welcome new donors.
